"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."-Emerson

Just Poop Please!

Well, Isaac is doing great! Except that he has yet to poop in the toilet. We put him in a pull-up Friday night and he pooped in the pull-up, but we've stopped putting him in pull-ups at night so he hasn't pooped since then. And he's a regular pooper, so this is unusual. Chad's in the bathroom right now reading to Isaac while he sits on the toilet. We're not sure what else to do! But other than this he's really doing fantastic! We've had one pee accident a day until today, which was accident free! So far, anyway. And he hasn't had pull-ups for two nights now and he woke up dry both times! I'm probably jinxing myself by blogging about this, but it's so exciting!
So, any suggestions on getting a kid to poop in the toilet? We're trying to bribe him, and trying to get him to relax on the toilet, so far nothing is working.

My Foot!

This post is mostly for journaling purposes [well, that's basically what the blog is for, but anyway]. A few months ago Cosette and I were playing with this little princess castle. I was laying down and Cosette was sitting on my chest and we were playing peek-a-boo through that door there. Then peek-a-boo turned into 'knock knock.' Cosette said, "Knock, knock. Who's there?" And I thought it would be cute to put my face next to the door so when she opened it I would say, "It's me!" Well, she had a different Idea. Here I was sitting with my face inches from the door when she says, "Knock, knock. Who's there? MY FOOT!" And to my surprise, her little foot came flying through the door, she nearly kicked me square in the face. It was so funny! Anyway, anytime I look at that little castle I think of that so I figured I'd put it in my 'journal.'

Summer Fun

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to go to a water birthday party for one of our friends, the kids had a blast!

I love the look of sheer delight on Isaac's face.

Potty-training Update

Update: We put Isaac in underwear today. I took the kids to the dr. for their well child visits and the dr. very politely and kindly chastised me a bit for Isaac still being in diapers. So when I got home Chad and I decided to just put him in underwear. He FREAKED out. Started kicking and screaming and crying for his diapers. So Chad and I took him into his room and said a prayer with him and as soon as we were done praying Isaac calmed right down and said, "I want to sit on the potty." Yay! So, he's peed in the potty multiple times today and has only had one small accident! And he's still staying positive about being in underwear! I hesitated to blog this because I don't know what tomorrow will bring. But in light of my last post, I figured I'd update.
Oh, and Cosette decided that she wanted to wear underwear as soon as we put Isaac in his, but she's not ready. We have pee puddles all over the house from her and she was completely content to run around in her wet underwear. So she's back in diapers. But at least she was excited!

Potty-training

I'm a miserable failure of a parent. My 4 year old is not potty-trained and I'm not up for doing it. He's ready now, but the very thought strikes terror to my heart. Can I just put him in underwear and let him figure it out? Or do I need to be all positive and happiness? Because if it's going to take positive and happiness, I'm the wrong person for the job! I HATE potty-training!!! [It doesn't help that his 5 year old sister still has accidents on a regular basis, I obviously did it wrong with her.] Is there any chance it would work to just put him in underwear and then go throughout the day like normal and just clean up his messes? Would he learn? Or does it have to be the charts and treats and cheers? Ugh. I think Chad's going to have to take a few days off of school and stay home to help. Because it's not going to happen without him.
