"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."-Emerson

Halloween

I've decided I hate halloween. But, well, here're some pictures from our day.

Debbie decided she was 'Angelina Ballerina'... the costume may look a little familiar.

Isaac was a Jedi Knight. I love my wonderful sister!

Cosette was a fairy.

Why do I hate halloween you ask? The same reason most other parents hate halloween. A whole lot of useless candy that's going to rot my kids teeth. I just couldn't get into the 'holiday' spirit this year so the kids didn't get to do many fun things. We did go to the ward party, so at least they got to do something.
So, Happy Halloween everyone. :)

Taxi

I feel like a taxi driver. And I only have one in school [well, two if you count Chad, which I do because I quite often give him a ride home from school]. It plain old sucks having to get three kids in and out of the car 2 - 3 times a day. They hate it. Isaac especially. He gives me so much grief. I don't know what to do, but he's making everyone's life miserable! I threaten and spank and he's just so darn stubborn that nothing works so I end up carrying my 40 lb 4 year old down and up three flights of stairs half the time. I hate it. It makes me so mad. I'm at my wits end and have no idea what to do. It's going to be a long year if this is how he is every day for the next 7 months.

I Don't Want to Grow Up

For a while now Isaac will say, "When I grow up I'm going to be a daddy, huh!" "Yep, yeah you get to be a daddy when you grow up." Well, the past couple days he's changed his tune. "I don't want to grow up. I don't want to grow up and be a daddy." I can't quite figure out why. But he's felt the need to tell me that randomly and frequently throughout the day. I'm sure it's something silly and little like he doesn't want to have to get his hair cut or something, but I can't get him to tell me why. Crazy kid!

Tidbits

We haven't had much of interest going on in our life right now so I figured I'd blog a little about where the kids are at.

Cosette's vocabulary is expanding daily. I think her favorite thing to say is, "Why?" Which can be infuriating... she's only 2! She's also taken to teasing her older siblings and calling them names. I came into the room the other day and found Debbie sitting on the floor sobbing and I asked what was wrong and Debbie said that Cosette was calling her a 'crybaby.' Hahaha! She's so feisty! She hasn't called anyone a crybaby recently so maybe we were able to put a stop to that. :) The other day we were reading a book about princesses and she said, "I a plincess" (she says 'l' instead of 'r') "and you a plincess and Debbie a plincess... and Daddy the queen!" We got a good laugh out of that one. And sometimes, if she gets mad she'll say, "I'm super duper angry!"
Isaac LOVES these blocks. They're awesome. They're called TRIO's and he spends hours each day playing with them. He makes all sorts of rows and patterns. He doesn't ever put them together haphazardly, there's always a pattern of some sort. He puts them into rows of the same color then stacks them up and then puts them back into rows again. And he spends HOURS doing that every day. It's one of the first things he does in the morning (we often wake up to the 'click, click, click' of the blocks) and almost always the last thing he does at night, he falls asleep with the blocks in bed with him. I love these blocks!

I've discovered a new way to keep Debbie entertained. She loves to cut paper. So, I give her some paper, crayons, and scissors and she's content for a long time. She has such an imagination! She writes stories and draws pictures and then dances around the house telling us all about them, she loves it.

Isaac

Things sure are quiet at home while Debbie is at school. Isaac's a pretty chill kid, he just kindof plays quietly by himself, so it's weird how quiet the house gets. But, since Debbie has started school I've decided to start doing reading lessons with Isaac. So far so good! He's enjoying it and it's been fun to work with him and to see his face light up when he gets it. Hopefully he can stay interested!

Our Cosette

Oh Cosette... I don't know what to do with this girl. She's so busy and loves to get into EVERYTHING. She loves to follow her older brother and sister around and they're pretty good about letting her play with them. She likes to 'stir the pot,' she does things to try to get a rise out of people. One day I came into the room to find Debbie sobbing while Cosette was sitting there smiling and I asked what was wrong and Debbie said that Cosette had been calling her a 'cry-baby.' And she doesn't even know what it means! She does that, she'll push buttons to get a reaction. She likes to tattle, but she's also very protective of her brother and sister. And she asks 'why' all the time! She doesn't like to listen to us and I don't know how to get her to start listening. Today I kept telling her to not touch stuff and she'd just go ahead and do it so I started slapping her hands, it didn't even phase her. Finally she started playing with a pair of scissors that I had told her not to touch so I slapped her hands kindof hard. She looked at me and laughed. So frustrating!!!
Oh, how we love this little fireball!!!

All Done!

Debbie has stopped sucking her thumb!!! The dentist had told her that sucking her thumb might have caused her to get so many cavities and after he said that, she started showing interest in stopping. So, I decided to bribe her with something that's not allowed in our house... Barbie. But, THANKFULLY, she decided she didn't want a barbie, she wanted Polly Pockets. So, we started putting socks on her hands when she went to bed at night but she had pretty muched stopped the minute she decided to. I think that was the day before school started! Go Debbie!

This was an outfit that Debbie picked out all by herself. I let her wear it to school because she was so proud of herself. She was wearing a striped shirt, pink polka-dotted belt, plaid shorts, and a football hairbow. And yet, she pulled it off, she looked adorable!
